Apple, EMI And The Death Of DRM

Bruce Nussbaum

Only Steve Jobs could pull off something like this but today was significant in ending restrictions on music sharing (digital rights management restrictions). The deal between Apple and EMI ending DRM now has to be followed by deals with the other music producers--Vivendi and Sony BMG--but the real issue now is whether or not the movie makers will follow.

Technology and a sharing culture are making it increasingly impossible to use copywrite to control and recompense. Time to rethink the whole issue of accessibility and creativity.
