Be Flexible With Your Employees

Value your employees and understand that just because your company is small doesn’t mean you have to operate that way. A key to getting a small business to work is to keep the wonderful employees you have—and doing that often means being flexible with them.

Just because you may not have the manpower of larger companies doesn’t mean you should work your employees to the bone. Give your employees the flexibility and appreciation they need and you’ll reap the benefits; they’ll work harder (and possibly longer) because they want to and not because they have to. I’ve made arrangements with many of my employees who wanted adjusted hours because of family obligations, and I’ve noticed that they’re more willing to compromise when needed because I have.
