A Class Action Suit Against Privacy Invaders?
I just checked my information put out by the three big credit agencies and discovered they all have me living in Florida--wrong! Worse, they all had me living at the same address in Florida. Much worse, that address was used five years ago in an identity theft that turned up only when I went to apply to redo my mortgage. The bank involved never did anything to resolve it.
So here I am, with key credit agencies using wrong information from an identity theft case. Now how did they get this, why don't they check it and what harm could it possibly do me? Plenty. Last time around, I nearly lost a low interest rate on the mortgage as the bank scrambled to deal with the problem. This time, who knows?
Mistakes made these days go everywhere and stay forever. Privacy, the ability to control information about you and the content you create, is a very big issue that we must confront. Wait until they really digitalize your medical information, folks.
