It's kind of strange how Super Dragon Ball Z works. Its gameplay doesn't follow that of the Budokai games. It instead reverts to a simpler play method. But because of this, the game works pretty well, giving some players what they wanted in the first place- straight-up fighting action. The custom card building and use of the Dragon Balls are excellent additions, making up for the lack of modes in the game. The visual presentation isn't the greatest (Budokai Tenkaichi looked sharper), and there's not too many fighters this time around, but Super Dragon Ball Z is a competent, enjoyable brawler, and that's more than what could be said for other games that have carried its brand.
