Normally new home sales centers in the suburbs of Raleigh are sedate places. The winding, wooded roads are not conducive to high volume traffic. And builders aren't allowed to put up billboards. But since KB Home opened its first Martha Stewart-designed development there earlier this year it's been a different story. "Traffic just exploded," says KB chief operating officer Jeff Mezger. "We used to get 12 to 25 people a week. Now it's hundreds." Mezger wouldn't say how many of those hundreds are just their to gawk at Martha creations like her Lily Pond home, pictured above and modeled after her Long Island estate. The next Martha development will be unveiled July 25th in Fairburn, Georgia, twenty miles southwest of Atlanta. Expect a big turnout. Martha sells.

It was a zoo when the community first opened more people were confused than anything else. KB wasn't ready for the quagmire that ensued. Agents were begging other agents for details and buyers were unable to get much from the onsite sales people in the KB Homes, Twin Lakes community in Cary.

He won't say the percentage of lookers because it's probable that 100% of the people are looking, hoping to buy next year at a major discount.
I'd like to drive out and see it, but there's not a chance I'll buy.

Do the "Martha Models" come with their own built in jail cell? What about whipping-posts to keep the help in line?

Does anyone know if these homes are actually selling or are people just coming in to browse and check out the decoration of the homes?
