Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked

Namco Bandai has been busy cranking out anime-based videogames and Samurai Champloo is the latest popular franchise to get the treatment. But unlike many of its predecessors, Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked is actually enjoyable. Developer Grasshopper Manufacture, best known for its work on the underappreciated Killer 7, has done a great job capturing the essence of the show while incorporating its own signature elements, and the result is an entertaining hack and slash adventure that serves up plenty of action that's been marinated in tasty Samurai Champloo shenanigans. It's great if you're a fan of the show because of the brand new story, but you may enjoy it even if you haven't watched a single episode. Sidetracked isn't especially polished and it could have looked a heck of a lot better, but I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
