Baseball Has Been Very Very Good to Me

Heather Green

Now here's a smart move. The MLB launched a blog written by players. Think about the possibilities. As the season heats up and the coverage does too, the baseball players can put their own spin on events. Like when Roger Clemens hit that guy with his pitch. (what was that guy's name? I can see the clip.) Or when Arod couldn't get any big hits during the series last year. (I know, I am talking big here, living through the scant knowledge I glean from my boyfriend, who loves the Yankees.)

Of course, transparency cuts both ways. And if some kind of steroids issue raises its head, will be interesting to see how that is handled.

Thanks Greg, it looks like its ARod on his site, though. Or AROD as they write it.

Hmmm... the last post is dated February 28. You'd think with spring training and the WBC there would be more activity. And if players are too busy to blog now, don't expect much during the regular season. Swing and a miss, MLB.

This is pretty cool. Let's see if we get some real stars posting some real insights, or just some PR spin from corporate.

Heather, I'm impressed that you ventured onto the diamond. When I saw the words Roger Clemens and hit in the same sentence, I winced with anticipation, thinking you were going to put a bat in his hands. But you sailed through. And don't let anyone fool you about the spelling of aRoD. I'd say with that one, anything goes. Your pinch hitter,

Have you ever read Paul Shirley's blog on He started it last year when he was a player for the Phoenix Suns and it ended up catching on. He's more famous for the blog than he was for being a professional benchwarmer.
