On BW's podcast about the business of podcasting this week, I chatted with Maria Thomas, head of NPR's digital efforts, about public radio's podcasting efforts. She describes how she's helping turn NPR's traditional business model on its head.

Last year, 9 million podcasts were downloaded from NPR's network of podcasts, launched in late August. These podcasts are culled from existing radio shows produced by the national NPR organization, new content, and shows produced by member stations, including KCRW and WNYC.

The Register reports,

"Security researchers have discovered four critical vulnerabilities involving Apple's QuickTime media player software and the download application for Apple's iTunes music store."
