Podcast Featuring Larry Kramer of CBS

Heather Green

This week's podcast on the business of podcasting is with Larry Kramer, who heads up CBS's digital unit. Kramer talks about the prospect of people paying for podcasts of, for instance, interviews of celebrities. And he talks about what a turbulent, confusing time technology and media are in and how no one knows quite how this will evolve.

What's a given, he says, is that people who are embracing new ways to listen and watch creative works are in the drivers' seats.

The big media should be on their toes. Not because of what we now know about podcasting

but more for the what we can't fathom in the future. Or can we?

Current uses are no more than hype similar to fashion (North Face jackets and Ugg boot for example).

When on demand live streaming information media meets Dick Tracy, media giants need to be leading, lest they fall victims to embracing Maxwell Smart's shoephone.
