MARKETSCOPE : Energy prices rose on Friday as colder weather increased demand for the fuel from the Midwest to the Northeast.
January natural gas futures soared 90 cents to $13.93. January heating oil futures spurted 3.33 cents to 177.25 cents. January gasoline futures rose 4.24 cents to 169.59 cents.
January West Texas Intermediate crude oil jumped 85 cents to $59.32. Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries president Sheik Ahmad Fahd al-Sabah of Kuwait said "the price will never go below $40 to $45 in the next quarter" and "for the production side, I don't see any changes" when OPEC meets Dec. 12.
