EBay's plans for Skype: Pay-per call advertising?

Stephen Baker

Rob Hof at Techbeat gives preliminary details on eBay's plans for Skype. Rob says they've already "started creating a pay-per-call advertising service that will use Skype (Think "Google ads for phone calls")." That doesn't sound too appealing to me. I don't object to ads that take up space, but hate it when they take time. (Yes, even floaters on Web sites, including this one, that slow me down for a second or two...)

UPDATE: Rob says that the ads will not be not be spoken, but instead display ads on the page where people click for a phone connection. That sounds much better.

Actually, Steve, I probably was too flip on that description and made the plans sound like something they aren't. (I'll go back and fix it on my post.) The plan is for people to be able to click on a link to set up a call to a business, so instead of getting sent to a Website, they can talk to the business. It's not a spoken ad, in other words.
