Google: The Hype and the Glory
Michael Arrington over at the Tech Crunch blog feels let down by the Google and Sun announcement. Judging from the comments he got, plenty of other people share the feeling. I really admire the things Arrington is doing and got a chuckle out of his post.
The whirring interest about Google reminds me the crazy days of the Internet bubble, when people got hopped up over all kinds of announcements. Another reporter came into my office on Tuesday Monday and said, hey, what do you think Google is going to announce with Sun, assuming I had heard about the announcement of an announcement the next day and that I had of course already spent time thinking about it...
People are creating this frenzy, not Google. It's understandable, they have done so much in such a short time and we're not sure what the're capable of going forward. But being gaga over Google all the time means you're going to be disappointed, I think.

Thank you, Heather. I agree that it's pretty much entirely "our" fault that we got so worked up over this. :-)
Are you at web 2.0?

No, I am not lucky enough to be at Web 2.0, stuck in the office in NYC. But definitely following the news online and through blogs, including yours, you better betcha!
