Red Hat Gains

Red Hat (RHAT) posted 7 cents, vs. 6 cents a year ago, first-quarter earnings per share on a 46% revenue rise. The company reportedly sees 6 cents to 7 cents second-quarter earnings per share on revenues of $64 million to $65 million. S&P raises estimate and keeps hold.

Pixar (PIXR) cut its 15 cents second-quarter earnings per share guidance to about 10 cents. It says based on the most current domestic and international home video sales data for "The Incredibles," it is updating its second-quarter home video projections to increase its reserves for returns.

3M (MMM) plans to reinvest about $1.7 billion of foreign earnings in the U.S., resulting in $75 million, or 10 cents per share, and a second-quarter one-time charge. It now forecasts 98 cents to $1.00 earnings per share (including the charge), in line with its previous $1.08 to $1.10 guidance (excluding the charge).

Unocal (UCL) sees $1.65 to $1.70 second-quarter earnings per share, excluding $12 million in special items, vs. a First Call mean forecast of $1.36.

Verity (VRTY) posted breakeven fourth-quarter (GAAP), vs. 4 cents earnings per share a year ago, on a 4.9% revenue decline. For the first quarter, the company sees a penny loss to a penny earnings per share (GAAP) on revenue of $32 million to $35 million. The company sees 18 cents to 21 cents fiscal 2006 earnings per share on revenue of $145 million to $150 million and set a $50 million stock buyback.

Micromuse (MUSE) agreed to acquire GuardedNet for $16.2 million in cash.

Radware (RDWR) sees a lower-than-expected 3 cents to 5 cents second-quarter earnings per share and revenues of about $17.5 million. It cited significant and continuous delays in closing projects.

Delphi (DPH) completed its financial restatement and has become current in its periodic filings with the SEC. An audit committee concluded an internal investigation of certain accounting transactions over the past five years.

Biophan Technologies (BIPH) says Boston Scientific (BSX) will buy $5 million in Biophan common stock. The company also inked a technology license, covering patents related to MRI safety, which include an upfront payment of $750,000 maintenance fees, royalties, and milestone payments.
