Proactively Recruiting Bloggers

Heather Green

Talk about crossing the divide. Dave Sifry of Technorati and Joe Trippi blogged yesterday about their work, along with John Hinderaker at Powerline to promote Blog One, an effort to tap into the power of bloggers to "help to shape the media and bring a new voice and perspective - and help to set the agenda - before the G8 conference in Scotland, " writes Sifry.

They're asking people to blog about the Live 8 concerts scheduled to take place around the G8 meeting to raise awareness about poverty in Africa. And they're sending 50 bloggers to the different concerts around the world to blog.

The effort looks multipronged and pretty technically smart.

I've signed onto this effort and actively support Live 8, with the cautionary clause that not only must we increase aid to poor nations, but their populations must rid their governments of the corruption and tyranny that causes financial aid to be squandered and misappropriated.

Bloggers tend to be more activist oriented due to the interactive nature of blogs.

As the NECC is realizing lately, content (information) is becoming active conversation, rather than passive absorption.

NECC advisors are even talking about encouraging students to prove their statements, and to demand that teachers prove their statements too.

What a glorious revolution of truth and integrity, and Blogspotting is a big part of it.
