Online Extra: How The Pro's 2004 Picks Fared


In December, 2003, BusinessWeek Online carried 28 stock recommendations for the new year from a panel of Wall Street pros. The picks returned an average of 22.6%, beating Standard & Poor's 500-stock index, which returned 12.5% in the same period. Of the 28, 19 picks beat the market and 21 made money. The big winners were energy stocks and David Williams play on the restructuring gains of Black & Decker.
