CURRENT POSITION

CEO, Forest Labs, since 1977; chairman since 1998.

BEST BUSINESS DECISION

Licensed a popular European antidepressant from H. Lundbeck in 1996. The drug, sold in the U.S. as Celexa, rang up sales of $980 million last year.

HIS PRIMARY IMPETUS

When his son Andrew was debilitated by depression, Solomon researched treatments and found that Lundbeck's drug wasn't available in the U.S.
