Starbucks ( SBUX) posted $0.12 vs. $0.09 Q3 EPS on a 3% same store sales rise, and 19% total sales rise. Starbucks reiterates $0.46 fiscal 2001 EPS guidance and sees $0.56-$0.58 fiscal 2002 EPS. S&P maintains hold.

Sapient (SAPE) posted a $0.07 Q2 loss vs. $0.12 EPS (pro forma) on a 31% revenue decline.
Human Genome ( HGSI) posted a $0.16 Q2 loss from operations vs. $0.15 loss on flat revenue. S&P maintains accumulate.
California Micro (CAMD) posted a worse than expected $0.37 Q1 loss vs. $0.12 EPS on a 59% revenue decline. The company still has limited visibility with respect to near term demand; will provide guidance for Q2 in the latter part of August.
Manor Care ( HCR) posted $0.29 Q2 EPS vs. a $0.03 loss on a 14% revenue rise. Manor Care says Q2 was stronger than expected due to improving mix, high volume, and mproving rates. The company sees quarterly sales comparisons similarly impressive for rest of year.
Duane Reed (DRD) posted $0.36 vs. $0.27 Q3 EPS on 8.6% higher same store sales, and 20% higher net sales. Duane Reed sees $0.43-$0.44 Q3 EPS on 7.5%-8% same store sales growth.
Solutia (SOI) posted $0.12 vs. $0.32 Q2 EPS from operations on 12% lower sales and does not expect sequential improvement in Q3 EPS.
