Expedia Lower on News of USA Networks Deal

Expedia (EXPE) sees better than expected $0.20-$0.23 Q4 EPS. USA Networks (USAI) agreed to acquire up to 37.5M Expedia shares. CE Unterburg says weakness in Expedia stock is due to confusion on the deal and selling by arbitrageurs and hedge funds.

Morgan Stanley cuts estimates on Cisco Systems (CSCO) and lowered its $25 price target to $22.

Trading in shares of Apria Healthcare (AHG) was halted at 25.00. The stock was down 3.52. Apria's billing practice in Los Angeles is reportedly being probed. The company says liability in the suit could be up to $9B.

Bank of New York (BK) posted weaker than expected $0.52 vs. $0.48 Q2 EPS on flat net interest income. Tucker Anthony cut estimates but maintains its market perform rating. S&P maintains accumulate.

Citigroup (C) posted $0.74 vs. $0.65 Q2 core EPS on 8% a revenue rise.

Bank of America ( BAC) posted $1.24 vs. $1.23 2Q EPS on 7.9% revenue rise.

SCI Systems (SCI) agreed to be acquired by Sanmina Corp. (SANM) in a deal valued at total of about $6B, including debt assumption. Terms: 1.36 Sanmina shares per SCI share.

Temple-Inland (TIN) posted $0.58 vs. $1.20 2Q EPS on 3.4% lower revenues, citing higher energy costs and lower shipments.

Robertson Stephens downgraded Chiron (CHIR) to market underperform based on NAT approval delay, anemic pipeline and slow forward


Pharmacia (PHA) says it will be supplying additional data to the FDA in response to non-approvable letter it received for its NDA for Parecoxib. CIBC World downgrades to hold from buy. DB Alex Brown cuts estimates.

Continential Airlines (CAL) posted better than expected $0.74 vs. $2.46 Q2 EPS from operations on flat revenues and higher expenses.

TRW Inc. (TRW) plans a charge in Q2 related to the cost of Ford's product recall and sees Q2 EPS, including a charge but excluding unusual items, at $0.65, slightly above consensus.

Packard Bioscience PBSC agreed to be acquired by PerkinElmer Inc. (PKI) in deal valued at about $650M, including debt assumption. Terms:

Eaton Corp. (ETN) posted $0.94 vs. $1.65 2Q EPS from ops on 14% lower sales.

Staar Surgical (STAA) received a PMA from FDA for its AquaFlow Collagen Glaucoma Drainage Device for use in correction of open-angle Glaucoma.
