Yahoo! Issues 2001 Revenue Warning

Yahoo! (YHOO) posted $0.13 Q4 EPS (pro forma) on a 53% revenue rise. The company sees $0.04-$0.07 Q1 EPS on $220M-$240M in revenues and $0.33-$0.43 2001 EPS on $1.2B-$1.3B in revenues. ABN Amro and UBS Warburg each downgraded their rating on YHOO to reduce. S&P maintains its hold opinion.

Rational Software (RATL) posted $0.20 vs. $0.13 Q3 EPS (pro forma) on 47% higher revenues. S&P maintains buy.

CIBC World sees Ariba (ARBA) meeting or modestly exceeding its $0.03 Q1 EPS estimate and reiterates its strong buy rating.

Merrill Lynch believes TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) is one of the best-positioned companies in the wireless sector and reiterated its near and long term buy rating.

Thomas Weisel initiated coverage on CIENA Corp. (CIEN) shares with a strong buy rating.

Goldman reinstated coverage on Exodus Communications (EXDS) shares and added the stock to its recommended list.

Robertson Stephens downgraded CNET Networks (CNET) to long term attractive from buy. Goldman removed the stock from its recommended list, and now rates CNET market outperform.

DB Alex Brown downgraded its rating on Electronic Arts (ERTS) to market perform from buy.

Playtex (PYX) sees $0.02-$0.04 Q4 EPS on a 5% sales decrease and $0.57-$0.59 2000 EPS. The company also sees mid-single digit 2001 sales growth due to uncertain economic environment.

Centura Banks (CBC) posted $0.90 vs. $0.89 Q4 EPS on an 11% interest income rise. The company sees 8%-10% 2001 EPS growth, in line with the consensus range of $3.56-$3.81.

The Shaw Group (SGR) posted $0.31 vs. $0.22 Q1 EPS on a sharp sales rise. (PPRO) two HONEYWELL units select co. to create e-marketplaces to help their respective users save time, streamline procurement processes, cut costs.

Macrovision (MVSN) sees better than expected $105M-$110M 2001 revenue, and expects EPS to exceed $0.80.

LeCroy Corp. (LCRY) sees better than expected $0.15-$0.19 Q2 EPS on $34M-$35M in revenues. The company cites strength in sales of its WavePro line of oscilloscopes and improved gross margin.

FirePond (FIRE) sees a $0.19-$0.24 Q1 loss per share from operations on revenue of $14M-$15.5M. FirePond cites a global slowdown in IT spending, which is delaying the signing of new contracts, and slower implementations.

Gucci Group's (GUC) Gucci Division posted more than 25% higher December sales on a comparative 5-week basis, in constant currency.

Gene Logic (GLGC) entered into a research collaboration with Pfizer (PFE) to co-design and develop a custom microarray based on Affymetrix's (AFFX) GeneChip technology, for mechanistic toxicology studies.

AmeriCredit (ACF) posted $0.57 vs. $0.36 Q2 EPS from operations. He sees $0.59-$0.61 Q3 EPS and $2.29-$2.33 for fiscal 2001.
