SINGAPORE'S LEE HSIEN LOONG (int'l edition)

When Singapore's deputy prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, came down with cancer in 1992, it looked like the end of a career. But in December, Lee--son of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew--got a clean bill of health. He has since become Singapore's economic policy czar. Lee, 46, opened up fund management and banking to foreign competition, phased out separate stock prices for foreigners, let the currency fall, and shook up the central bank. He's looking like a reformer--and a future Prime Minister.
