BUSINESS OUTLOOK: THE WEEK AHEAD
CONSUMER PRICE INDEX Thursday, Feb. 17, 8:30 a.m.
The MMS consensus calls for a 0.3% gain in total consumer prices in January, up from 0.2% in December. Problems in seasonally adjusting the price index usually cause higher increases in the first quarter. Excluding food and energy, prices probably rose 0.3% last month, the same modest gain as in December.
