FEEL FREE TO `INSULT' THE CHINESE

Allow me to add to what must be an avalanche of responses to the fanciful, farcical comment in "From Paris to Peru: Tips on tipping" (Personal Business, Aug. 3) on tipping in China. Whoever says Chinese consider tips an insult has not been in China recently.

Last month, at the request of a group of Chinese tour guides, I went into great detail on recommended tips and what one of our guides should expect.

Even some personnel who did not expect tips took them with obvious delight.
