MBA's for CIOs

Some of the highest-paid chief information officers hold advanced degrees. Robert Carter, CIO at FedEx (FDX), earned more than $3 million in 2011. He got his MBA at the University of South Florida. Similarly, Anna Ewing, CIO of Nasdaq, received $2.8 million in compensation in 2010. She graduated from York University with an MBA.

Yet in this economy, fewer people want to leave their jobs to attend a full-time program, so some are opting for executive MBA programs that meet mostly on weekends. Full-time MBA program application volume continued to taper off for the third consecutive year, according to the 2011 report by the Graduate Management Admission Council. Conversely, in the past two years, more than half of executive MBA programs experienced steady or increased volume in applications.

Here are the top 15 executive MBA programs in the U.S. as ranked by Bloomberg Businessweek. Included is the percentage of students who manage information systems, so you can see how many tech compadres to expect in each program.
