As Congress recessed on Sept. 21 for the election, it celebrated with a pork-rib feast prepared by Representative Louie Gohmert and served up in the Speaker’s Lobby of the Capitol. Gohmert’s dry rub is based on President Lyndon Johnson’s recipe. “Both sides of the aisle like ’em,” says the Texas Republican. Still, it can’t quite be said that the partyers are members of the clean-plate club. Left incomplete as they went home to campaign: the farm bill, a defense spending bill, and a solution for the looming fiscal cliff.
