Some of the events and announcements from top business schools in the U.S. and around the world that made news in the past two weeks:

University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School announced March 12 it would launch an executive education program for new leaders transitioning into management roles June 4-7 on the San Francisco campus.

With the goal of helping Chinese entrepreneurs better understand the European market, China Europe International Business School and INSEAD revealed on March 13 their partnership to provide senior executives with a new program that will kick off June 25-30 in Fontainebleau, France.

Boosted by a growing commitment to researching Indian businesses and management practices, Harvard Business School announced March 1 it would open a new amphitheater-style classroom at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai. Although the school has offered courses in Hyderabad and Mumbai before, this classroom is meant to replicate the experience students have on the Boston campus, allowing for the authentic case method experience for the first time in India.

NuMat Technologies, a startup led by two JD-MBA students at the Kellogg School of Management, won $100,000 in the student-team division of the 2012 Clean Energy Challenge, an annual competition for Midwest clean-technology ideas. The firm won for its plan to identify and produce materials that can be used to store clean fuel.

Registration is open and the deadline is March 23 at 5:59 p.m. ET for the Business Plan Contest, the principal battle in the MIT $100K Competition, which awards a grand prize of $100,000 to launch a startup based on the most promising business plan.

The University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business on March 1 opened the doors of the Berkeley Skydeck, an incubator designed to help launch businesses created through collaborations among Berkeley business and engineering students and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

Paula Sims, an executive at Progress Energy (PGN), is joining the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School as an adjunct assistant professor of organizational behavior, the school announced March 2.
