Woodman's of Essex Celebrates College Book Week
ESSEX, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/06/14 -- Woodman's of Essex, where
the very first fried clam in the world was invented, is celebrating
their college-bound employees with College Book Week. And in honor of
their 100th Anniversary, Woodman's is extending the celebration to
their college-bound customers as well.
Customers who come in to Woodman's of Essex for lunch anytime between
12 p.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, August 11 through August
15 and show their college ID or college enrollment letter will be
entered into a daily drawing which will happen at 2 p.m. There will
be one customer winner and one employee winner each day, and prizes
include up to $100 gift cards to Bed, Bath & Beyond, Staples, and
Amazon. There will also be college-bound goodie bags and additional
raffles for our employees donated by Bed, Bath & Beyond.
The celebration is directly tied to the Mr. & Mrs. L. Dexter Woodman
Scholarship Fund, which to date has awarded more than $675,000 to
more than 110 deserving students and educational initiatives.
"We're thrilled to honor Dexter and Gini Woodman with College Book
Week," says Stephen Woodman, co-CEO and third-generation owner of
Woodman's. "Dexter and Gini truly wanted young people to succeed.
They wanted to help kids with their secondary education, and with
these efforts, so do we."
This year's Woodman's college scholarships as well as the Woodman's
Employee College Book Money program are helping kids go to NYU, the
University of Delaware, Villanova, Syracuse, Florida State
University, George Washington University, the University of
Pittsburgh, Duke, and UNH. The fund will also continue to provide
support for a number of local organizations, including the North
Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Essex Lions Club, Prep at Pingree, the
