HONG KONG -- July 15, 2014

MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) announced today that after five years of successful
leadership and 27 years of dedicated service, Jong Kim, has decided to
step-aside from his current role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assume
the role of Chairman, MetLife Korea, effective August 11, 2014. Mr. Kim
started his career with MetLife in California and came to Korea in 1989. He is
one of the founding members of MetLife’s operation in Korea and was
instrumental in shaping its success. Under his stewardship, MetLife Korea has
grown to become the #1 foreign life insurer in Korea.

MetLife also announced that it has appointed Damien Green, formerly its Head
of Employee Benefits, Asia, as the new CEO for MetLife Korea. Mr. Green will
be based in Seoul and will report directly to Christopher Townsend, MetLife’s
President for the Asia region.

Mr. Green is an experienced life insurance CEO with over 13 years of
experience leading businesses for MetLife and AIA Group across several markets
in Asia. Whilst at MetLife, Mr. Green has successfully developed an Asia
region strategy and execution framework which is driving MetLife’s strong
growth in Employee Benefits in multiple markets across the region. He has also
taken on additional responsibilities this year as interim CEO of MetLife
Australia and has driven transformation in that business. Before joining
MetLife, Mr. Green was an Asia Region executive for AIA Group, holding the
positions of CEO, Group Corporate Solutions, and before that CEO of AIA
Australia.

“We fully support Jong Kim’s decision to step–aside and would like to pay
special thanks to him for his leadership and outstanding contribution in
growing the MetLife Korea business,” said Mr. Townsend. “Korea is a key market
for MetLife, and we recently celebrated our 25^th anniversary of doing
business here. As we set our sights on the next chapter for MetLife in Korea,
we’re delighted to have Damien step into the role of CEO. Damien is highly
respected in the insurance industry and he brings a wealth of strategic
leadership acumen to the business. He is highly qualified to spearhead the
next phase of growth for MetLife in Korea and advance our quest to deliver
greater shareholder returns,” he added.

The CEO leadership transition represents a significant opportunity in the next
chapter of MetLife’s Korea business as it continues to pursue its aspirations
for growth and market leadership in Korea. Mr. Kim remains with the company
and is assuming the role of Chairman of the Board for MetLife in Korea, as
well as maintaining his stewardship on the Board of MetLife’s philanthropic
arm, MetLife Foundation Korea. In this advisory role, Mr. Kim will work
closely with Mr. Green to drive continuity, efficiency and growth for the
business.
