Immersion and Huawei Enter into Multi-Year License Agreement

Huawei to use haptics to create dynamic user experiences on smartphones

Business Wire

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- July 10, 2014

Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ:IMMR), the leading developer and licensor of
touch feedback technology, today announced that it has entered into a
multi-year worldwide license agreement with Huawei Device (Dongguan) Co.,
Ltd., the third largest global supplier of smartphones according to IDC. This
first direct license agreement with Huawei for Immersion’s haptic software,
TouchSense® 3000, enables Huawei to add tactile feedback to certain Huawei
branded mobile devices to create rich, multi-dimensional user experiences.

“At Huawei, our goal is to offer high-quality, well-designed devices to
consumers. Touch and tactile feedback is a natural part of how we understand
and communicate with the world. We’re working with Immersion to leverage their
expertise in how to bring the best haptic experiences to our products,” said
Wu Dezhou, VP of Honor brand devices at Huawei.

Immersion TouchSense software creates an unlimited number of customizable,
high-quality, power-efficient tactile effects that enhance mobile user
interfaces, applications and services. The technology enables device
manufacturers to create distinctive and intuitive user experiences by adding
touch feedback throughout the device for better usability, greater realism and
enhanced interactivity.

“Huawei is building leading full-feature smartphones to fit the busy lifestyle
of today’s users, and tactile feedback is one of those must-have features for
any smartphone,” said Dennis Sheehan, SVP of sales and marketing at Immersion.
“In addition to being at the center of a person’s communication, the
smartphone is now used for many other things, such as entertainment and
information discovery. With Immersion’s technology, mobile manufacturers can
improve and differentiate their user experiences by adding an entirely new
dimension to their devices. We’re pleased that Huawei has chosen to license
TouchSense and look forward to working with them to bring innovative tactile
experiences to users.”
