FRIDAY HARBOR, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/08/14 -- Vinton G. Cerf,
Google Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, will be featured
in a Centerpiece Conversation at the 12th annual SNS Future in Review
(FiRe) technology conference, May 20-23, 2014. This will be Cerf's
second appearance at the annual technology and economic conference,
described the by The Economist as "the best technology conference in
the world."
Cerf has served as Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist for
Google since October 2005. In this role, he contributes to Internet
policy and standards development and the expansion of Internet access
around the world. Cerf also served at MCI, the Corporation for
National Research Initiatives, and the US Department of Defense's
Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and as a member of the
Stanford University faculty.
Widely known as one of the "fathers of the Internet," Cerf is the

Internet. In December 1997, President Bill Clinton presented Cerf and
his colleague, Robert E. Kahn, with the US National Medal of

"Nobel Prize of Computer Science," for their work on the Internet
protocols. In November 2005, President George W. Bush awarded Cerf
and Kahn the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian

into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in May 2006. He served as

recipients of the first Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.
"FiRe is among the most stimulating events of my year. The
opportunities for new idea discovery seem endless," said Vint Cerf,
Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist of Google.
"We are delighted to have Vint Cerf returning to FiRe this year, to
help us understand something perhaps no one else in the world sees
with the same depth: how important is Net Neutrality, how can the Net
itself protect both privacy and security, and how should the Internet
and its use be governed in the future? These are the most important
communications questions of this decade," said Mark Anderson, FiRe
Chair and CEO of the Strategic News Service.
