COLUMBUS, Ga. -- May 1, 2014

Carmike Cinemas, Inc. (NASDAQ:CKEC), a leading entertainment, digital cinema
and 3-D motion picture exhibitor, today announced that guests at its Carmike
15 entertainment complex (5555 Whittlesey Boulevard in Columbus, GA) will have
the opportunity to choose among the most immersive premium in-theatre
experiences available on the market when its ‘BigD’ premium large format (PLF)
auditorium reopens this coming Friday, May 2. The Carmike 15 BigD will now
feature the all new Auro 11.1 by Barco cinema sound system as well as a
state-of-the-art Christie Brilliant 3-D flash digital projection system. In
addition to the BigD opening, an aggregate of 38 seats in two auditoriums has
been outfitted with the D-BOX cutting-edge motion technology to also debut
Friday.

Carmike Cinemas is on the forefront of the best technologies offering patrons
a truly superior movie going experience. The Carmike 15 is no exception as the
location allows patrons to participate in the best of cinema technology
available by way of BigD, IMAX, Auro 11.1 by Barco, and D-BOX all in one
destination.

The Carmike 15’s BigD will feature the highly anticipated premiere of Marvel’s
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 3-D during its opening weekend. BigD cinemagoers
will experience the action-packed movie in the highly anticipated Auro 11.1 by
Barco sound. The most natural immersive sound generated experience possible,
Auro 11.1 by Barco is a three-layered 52 speaker configuration (surround,
height and overhead) that projects sounds from their relative point of origin
to deliver immersive sound that submerges guests in the experience. For
example, when a plane flies overhead, the sound is heard roaring above the
guest. Similarly, when a thunderstorm erupts, the intense sound from above
places the viewer in the feature.

Other guests of the Carmike 15 will have access to the unique D-BOX
technology, one of the best experiences in cinema today. Patrons of D-BOX are
not merely watching a movie; they are virtually placed in the feature through
synchronized movements of the seat with the action of the film. The D-BOX
experience is a unique motion technology, providing automated seat activation
in-tune with the action on the big screen. Once again, Carmike Cinemas is
taking the movie going experience to a higher level of performance while
increasing the guest’s expectations.

“At each and every Carmike location we are firmly committed to bringing our
guests a premium experience through superior product and unrivaled customer
service. We continue to ensure a cutting-edge presentation each and every time
by offering large format digital projection on infinitely larger screens
through BigD, top of the line sound with superior products such as Auro 11.1
by Barco, and the finest in-theatre seating available where guests can
experience the D-BOX motion technology,” stated David Passman, President and
Chief Executive Officer of Carmike Cinemas. “We are truly delighted to
continue our promise of a superior movie going experience as we bring
additional premium choices to our valued guests of the Carmike 15 in the
Columbus market and surrounding communities.”
