COLUMBUS, Ga. & YULEE, Fla. -- April 21, 2014

Carmike Cinemas, Inc. (NASDAQ: CKEC), a leading entertainment, digital cinema
and 3-D motion picture exhibitor, today announced that the Company will open a
new 10-screen entertainment complex featuring its ‘Big D’ premium experience
in Yulee, Florida (S.R. 200 & Amelia Concourse, Yulee, FL 32097), Amelia
Island, Fernandina Beach and surrounding communities. Construction is planned
to begin this month for the new location.

The new theatre will be furnished with 10 screens and have total seating
capacity for more than 1,700 guests. The BigD, Carmike’s own premium large
screen format experience auditorium, will seat 357 patrons. All auditoriums in
the leading-edge entertainment complex will be equipped with stadium seating
with comfortable high-back rocking luxury seats, retractable armrests and
convenient cup holders. The Coastal Cinema 10 will contain large, wall-to-wall
screens, DLP digital projection and digital surround sound in all auditoriums.

The facility’s upscale lobby will contain multiple concession areas featuring
self-serve Coca-Cola Freestyle drink centers, which pour more than 100
customized fountain drink varieties. One-stop ticketing will also be included
in the lobby area so cinemagoers will be able to escape the elements and
purchase tickets with their favorite concessions at the same transaction
point. The new complex also provides special services for visually and hearing
impaired patrons using Sony Closed Captioning glasses (CC) as well as
descriptive and amplified audio (VI & HI).

audiences. Yulee will soon join the select list of communities in ‘Hometown
America’ offering Carmike’s uniquely immersive BigD large screen presentation.
As part of our focus for delivering the most immersive ‘entertainment
experience’ to our guests, we plan to continue expanding the number of BigD
auditoriums and premium presentation choices across our circuit.”

All BigD  auditoriums have wall-to-wall screens with Yulee, FL being no
exception. The new BigD screen in Yulee will measure almost 60 feet wide by
about three stories tall. To further enhance the premium experience, a custom
QSC digital audio system will be tuned to a 7.1 speaker array with 16
channels, upgradeable to 11.1 surround sound. This system is a true revolution
in sound technology,withdigital audio processing supported by
quad-amplified, 4-way speakers, and 21-inch subwoofers. The BigD is powered by
a cutting-edge Christie Brilliant 3-D flash projector, which will also present
2-D entertainment. The end result is a light output of 30,000 lumens, creating
a picture quality with noticeably higher resolution than HD.
