Richardson Patrick Westbrook & Brickman, LLC (RPWB) announced today that
founding member H. Blair Hahn was appointed Lead Counsel for the Plaintiffs’
in the Lipitor multidistrict litigation (MDL) in Charleston, SC. The Honorable
Richard M. Gergel, U.S. District Judge for the District of South Carolina is
presiding over the national consolidation and issued an order appointing Hahn.
The suit alleges that Lipitor causes women to develop type-2 diabetes. Over
3000 suits are currently pending in federal courts.

RPWB’s Hahn says, “This is a major health issue nationwide. We expect over
10,000 suits will ultimately be filed against Pfizer. The medical literature
shows no benefit to women on statin therapy and it is increasing women’s risk
in developing diabetes. We look forward to working with Judge Gergel in
resolving this nationwide health issue.”

Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman’s expertise is in representing
plaintiffs in sophisticated civil litigation in areas such as antitrust,
asbestos, catastrophic personal injury, class actions, consumer lending,
environmental, pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices, pharmaceutical drug
pricing, products liability, and securities fraud.

RPWB has offices in Barnwell, Charleston, and Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
