Piksel Behind Channel 4's 4oD for Xbox One at Global Console Release
NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 03/18/14 -- Piksel, a global
provider of "over-the-top" video monetization software and solutions,
displayed agility and technical proficiency in Video on Demand (VoD)
by working with Channel 4 to build the 4oD app for Microsoft's Xbox
One games and entertainment console.
"Channel 4 selected Piksel to build the 4oD application for Xbox One
because of their experience and expertise with Microsoft products.
They did a fantastic job of managing the tough timescales and
technical challenges of working with a device not commercially
available during development. We are thrilled that 4oD was available
to our users for the UK launch of Xbox One last November," said Kevin
Gallagher, CIO, Channel 4.
"Through our close partnership with Channel 4 and Microsoft, Piksel
have successfully delivered 4oD for Xbox One through intelligent
systems integration and application development. 4oD also builds on
key new Xbox One features such as 'pin to home,' 'snap view' and a
full integration with Xbox SmartGlass making it an exciting new app
for Xbox One users and Channel 4 customers," said Mark Christie,
Chief Technology Officer of Piksel.
A week before the Xbox One launch, Piksel helped Channel 4 launch the
new 4oD app for Windows Phone, further extending Channel 4's viewer
ecosystem with Microsoft products which also include apps for Xbox
360 and Windows 8.

About Channel 4
Channel 4 is the UK's only publicly-owned,
commercially-funded public service broadcaster, with a remit to be
innovative, experimental and distinctive. We work across television,
film and digital media to deliver our public service remit, as
outlined in the 2003 Communications Act and most recently the 2010
Digital Economy Act. Channel 4 was established in 1982 with a unique
business model, under the Broadcasting Act 1981. We are funded
predominantly by advertising and sponsorship, but unlike other
broadcasters such as ITV, Channel 4 is not shareholder owned. It is
governed by a unitary board made up of executive and non-executive
directors, who are responsible for ensuring that C4 fulfils its remit
and delivers its financial responsibilities. Non-executive directors
are appointed by OFCOM in agreement with the Secretary of State for
Culture, Media and Sport. Learn more at
