Law Offices of Howard G. Smith Announces Investigation on Behalf of
Investors of Blucora, Inc.
BENSALEM, Pa. -- February 18, 2014
Law Offices of Howard G. Smith announces that it is investigating potential
claims on behalf of investors of Blucora, Inc. (“Blucora” or the “Company”)
(NASDAQ:BCOR) concerning possible violations of federal securities laws. The
investigation is focused on the Company’s business and operations.
Blucora provides online search technology, aggregated search content, and tax
preparation services and software in the Unites States and internationally.
The Company was formerly known as InfoSpace, Inc., and changed its name to
Blucora, Inc. in June 2012. The investigation is related to an article by
Gotham City Research LLC, published February 18, 2014, on the investor website
SeekingAlpha, alleging that, among other things: (i) Blucora’s main web
properties are tied to malware, viruses and browser hijackers that attack
computers; (ii) Blucora’s search volumes experienced a significant boost in
recent quarters, due to a rise in illicit search traffic (Including
child-pornography related searches); and (iii) at least 50% of the Company’s
traffic is derived from malware, illicit traffic, pirated content and click
fraud -- including involuntary clicks, artificial clicks and illicit clicks.
Following this news, Blucora stock dropped more than 10% from its previous
closing price, in intraday trading on February 18, 2014.
