WH SMITHS EMPLOYEES AT BIRMINGHAM DISTRIBUTION CENTRE VOTE FOR GMB TO SAFEGUARD THEIR EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS The employees at the Birmingham Distribution Centre have voted and have shown beyond doubt that they want GMB as their chosen trade union says GMB GMB, the union for distribution and retail workers, has won the backing of all hourly paid workers in WH Smiths in the Birmingham Distribution Centre. GMB will now be the recognised trade union. GMB won the trade union recognition ballot with 63% of the workforce vote in favour of GMB to be their trade union to represent their employment rights. GMB will now meet with the company to agree formal bargaining procedures. David Day, GMB Membership Development Officer said, "The employees at the Birmingham Distribution Centre have voted and have shown beyond doubt that they want GMB as their chosen trade union. GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region will now work with WH Smiths to draw up an agreement and ensure that GMB members make the Deykin Avenue site become W H Smiths top distribution centre.
