Local Corporation Expands Krillion® Shopping Platform; Reaches Key Data
IRVINE, Calif. -- January 23, 2014
Local Corporation (NASDAQ: LOCM), a leading online local media company, today
announced that it has expanded its patented Krillion local shopping platform
and reached key data milestones.
The Krillion local shopping data index, one of the largest and most
comprehensive in the industry, now includes approximately 120,000 retail store
locations, up 60 percent from 75,000 in October 2013, covering over 4,300
shopping categories, representing millions of localized products. The Krillion
platform aggregates dynamic, national and regional retail shopping content,
including retail locations, brands, product categories, product images and
inventory availability data.
“We’re excited to further expand our powerful Krillion platform. By reaching
these important milestones, we’ve significantly increased the breadth and
depth of our expansive data index, which provides publishers with more
engaging content and consumers with valuable local shopping information via
mobile and desktop,” said Michael Sawtell, Local Corporation, president and
COO. “We look forward to working with additional partners and further growing
the distribution of this highly relevant local shopping data to help retailers
reach more local consumers nationwide.”
The company’s recently launched Havvit® mobile app, shopping content solutions
for online publishers, and localized content for search engines are just three
of the many ways the Krillion data can be distributed via websites and apps
that local shoppers rely on to get the information they need to make
Powered by the Krillion local shopping platform, the Havvit app supports busy,
local consumers, enabling them to track savings, compare prices and find
products nearby, all from their selected favorite stores and brands. One of
the first shopping apps of its kind designed for iOS® 7, the free app makes
shopping and product discovery fun and more efficient for the increasing
number of consumers using smartphones to shop both at home and on-the-go.
