HCC Insurance Holdings Names John E. Robison Vice President and Head of
Investments

HOUSTON, Jan. 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc.
(NYSE:HCC) today announced the hiring of John E. Robison as Vice President and
Head of Investments, reporting to the Company's Chief Financial Officer, Brad
T. Irick.

Mr. Robison joins HCC with 19 years of experience in investment
management.Most recently, he was Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer at
Ecova, Inc. Previously, Mr. Robison was Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer
at RLI Corporation, Director of Investments at National Interstate Corporation
and Investment Portfolio Manager at Westfield Companies.He holds an M.B.A.
from Xavier University and a B.B.A. in Finance from Kent State University.
