America's Largest Organic Supply Chain Partners To Be Inducted Into Corporate
Tax Dodgers Hall of Shame
(Providence, R.I.) – Educators, consumers, and labor and environmental
activists will gather Wednesday to protest the unsustainable practices of
organic food distributor United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) and retail partner
Whole Foods Market (WFM) at UNFI's annual shareholder meeting.
United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) and retail partner Whole Foods Market have
come under fire for soliciting huge public tax subsidies, while avoiding
questions about the true costs and negative impacts on consumers, schools,
jobs and the environment resulting from the development of UNFI's
mega-distribution facility, which recently broke ground in Hudson Valley, N.Y.
Organizations representing concerned groups from across the country will
attend an annual meeting of UNFI shareholders to highlight the company's
unsustainable practices across America and demand restitution of the
unsustainable subsidies in Hudson Valley, NY. Activities will include a
ceremony to induct UNFI and Whole Foods into the Corporate Tax Dodgers Hall of
