MINNEAPOLIS -- December 16, 2013

Employees from Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life)
formed a human chain to load more than 500 boxes of food and clothing they
donated onto waiting trucks destined for local non-profits. Over the five
weeks of Allianz Life’s “Spirit of Giving” campaign, employees donated 101 new
bikes, more than 3,500 new toys, more than 26,800 pounds of food, and more
than 21,800 pounds of gently used clothing and books to share with those in
need. The employees also raised more than $103,000 in cash donations.

“Allianz Life is committed to supporting organizations that help families
struggling to make ends meet,” said President and CEO of Allianz Life, Walter
White. “It’s an amazing and gratifying experience to see our employees’
compassion first-hand as they work to make the lives of our neighbors better.”

During the Allianz Life annual campaign, employees volunteer at donation
tables throughout the five-week campaign collecting, weighing and boxing food
and clothing donations. Employee teams also conduct creative fundraising
campaigns such as selling cookbooks and baked goods to raise cash for Second
Harvest and Toys for Tots.

The food and clothing will be delivered to PRISM (People Responding in Social
Ministry), a community-funded social service agency located in Golden Valley,
Minn., helping hundreds of families in need. Cash donations will go to Second
Harvest Heartland, the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger relief organization, and
Toys for Tots, which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford
them. Donated toys and bikes will also go to Toys for Tots and more than 200
books will be delivered to People Serving People, Hennepin County’s largest
shelter for homeless families.

This is the 14^th year of the Campaign. During the past 14 years, Allianz
Life employees have given:

  * $477,000 in cash donations,
  * 248,000 pounds of food, and
  * 250,000 pounds of clothing.

While loading the semi-trucks, local sporting mascots – T.C. Bear of the
Minnesota Twins, Viktor of the Minnesota Vikings, and Nordy from the Minnesota
Wild – motivated the employees. Mike Max from WCCO-TV was also on hand to
cheer on employees during the 3-hour loading event. When the donations arrived
at PRISM, 60 students from the Dassel-Cokato High School honor society
assisted Allianz Life employees in unloading the tons of clothing and food.
