Finisar Broadens Optical Interconnect Portfolio at Supercomputing 2013

Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR) today introduced a broadened
portfolio of products for supercomputing interconnects. These
products utilize 10G, 14G, and 25G building blocks common across the
portfolio and leverage Finisar's strong leadership in
high-performance and reliable optics technology. These products
support a wide variety of protocols, including InfiniBand, Ethernet,
Fibre Channel, SAS and PCIe. The complete optics portfolio will be on
display in Finisar's booth #3608 at Supercomputing 2013 (SC13) in
Denver, Colorado from November 18-21, 2013.
Finisar's 25G-enabled products include enhancements to the
established Quadwire(R) and C.wire(R) active optical cables,
Board-mounted Optical Assemblies (BOA) and QSFP28 transceivers. These
products support the latest InfiniBand EDR and 100G Ethernet
protocols, enabling the fastest applications in HPC today. The
10G/14G-enabled products include SFPwire(R), Quadwire(R), and
C.wire(R) active optical cables, as well as SFP+, QSFP+ and CXP
transceivers. These products are designed for InfiniBand QDR/FDR,
Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SAS, and PCIe protocols, providing the
industry's most reliable optical communication links.
These products utilize Finisar's core technology components including
VCSELs, photodiodes, and ICs. Leveraging a common set of building
blocks shortens development times and improves manufacturing
efficiency. In addition, Finisar's active optical cables offer a
lightweight, more compact solution than traditional copper cables.
During SC13 this week, Finisar will demonstrate its suite of 25G
building blocks in an optical engine form factor, Finisar's 25G
Board-mounted Optical Assembly (BOA). The BOA provides exceptionally
low power and the highest density optical interface for
supercomputing interconnects. The live demonstration will show a 25G
BOA connected to a second 25G BOA with integrated CDRs on both
transmit and receive channels. Finisar's BOA features the world's
fastest VCSEL, previously shown to work at speeds up to 56Gbps. The
