Guidance Software Announces Industry-first Integration Between EnCase
eDiscovery and Box
Leading E-Discovery Solution Now Collects and Preserves Information Managed in
Box as Readily as On-Premise Data
PASADENA, Calif. -- November 14, 2013
Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:GUID), the World Leader in Digital
Investigations™, today announced the first integration of EnCase® eDiscovery,
a complete e-discovery suite, with Box, an enterprise cloud content management
platform. Together, the new integration will enable enterprise customers to
securely search, collect and preserve electronically stored information (ESI)
located on Box with EnCase eDiscovery just as easily as with on-premise data,
while responding to litigation, arbitration, and internal or regulatory
EnCase eDiscovery is used by organizations to reduce risk and costs through
comprehensive in-house e-discovery capabilities. With the Box integration,
corporate attorneys and law firms can dramatically reduce the time required to
collect and preserve chain of custody for information stored in Box for faster
review and analysis. This integration also reduces the overall cost of
e-discovery by collecting only the most relevant information.
"In order for Box to meet the challenges of highly regulated industries, such
as legal services, we are committed to working with partners like Guidance
Software to support e-discovery and compliance requirements without
compromising user experience and productivity," said Whitney Bouck, senior
vice president and general manager of enterprise at Box. “With the new Box and
EnCase eDiscovery integration, our customers now have a scalable, reliable and
secure way for effectively managing their electronically stored documents in
the cloud, allowing them to respond and collaborate on legal matters more
quickly and efficiently.”
Ranked as a leader in e-discovery software by Gartner three years in a row,
EnCase eDiscovery is a comprehensive and scalable solution for effectively
managing electronically stored documents in litigation, arbitration, and
internal or regulatory investigations, significantly reducing e-discovery risk
and costs. EnCase eDiscovery provides oversight of the entire e-discovery
workflow, from legal hold to identification, collection, preservation,
processing, first-pass review, best-in-class early case assessment (ECA),
review, and production capabilities.
“Box has focused on bringing enterprise-grade cloud storage to the market,
making them a perfect partner for EnCase eDiscovery,” said Victor Limongelli,
Guidance Software President and CEO. “Inside counsel and information security
teams are beginning to collaborate on processes and best practices, and their
essential technologies must do so, as well.”
Integration Enables Visibility and Control over ESI Managed in Box
Risk management and legal teams gain the following from the EnCase eDiscovery
integration with Box:
*Instant Visibility of content housed in Box. EnCase eDiscovery can quickly
scan Box and identify potentially relevant ESI based on specific criteria.
Legal and IT support teams can access Box data in a forensically sound
manner as the integration keeps metadata and content intact, then makes it
available to dispersed collaboration groups as needed.
*Centralized Access to data that may be required for e-discovery,
increasing speed while preventing inadvertent sharing of sensitive data.
*Rapid Response to Legal Matters becomes a critical advantage in responding
to regulatory requests. By only collecting relevant ESI, workloads are
reduced, along with risks and costs associated with manual procedures,
such as copying files and burning DVDs.
*Lifecycle Control supports a defensible process for retention and deletion
(dispensation) of all data relevant in legal matters, whether stored on
premise or on Box.
More than 180,000 businesses and 97 percent of the Fortune 500 use Box to
manage and collaborate around their information. Box enables enterprises to
upload and organize files, share, and control access to documents all in a
single, secure location online. Information stored on Box can be accessed
anywhere, and with any device. The company was recently named a leader in the
Forrester Wave™ File Sync & Share Platforms Q3 2013 report.
