Compuware Announces Winners of Inaugural Mobile App Challenge at Detroit's
Marcus Garvey Academy

Winning Team Earns a Ride on the Compuware Float in America's Thanksgiving
Parade

DETROIT, Oct. 31, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation
(Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, announced the conclusion of
its inaugural Mobile App Challenge conducted at Detroit's Marcus Garvey
Academy.

Team Brainy Bunch, comprised of 5^th graders Jordan Bell; Candance Montgomery;
Desire Taylor; and Gabrielle Taylor; and mentored by Compuware professionals,
presented the winning concept to the panel of judges yesterday afternoon at
Marcus Garvey. The judging panel consisted of Marcus Garvey Principal James
Hearn; Compuware CTO Paul Czarnik; Compuware VP of Strategic Services Bob
Kennedy; Detroit Public Schools Data Center, Network & Communications Services
Executive Director Mark Bartoski; and Matt Roush, CBS Radio Technology
Reporter and Editor of WWJ's Technology Report.

"Every organization today relies on technology to accomplish its objectives.
Be it a Fortune 50 global enterprise or a middle school in Detroit, technology
is intrinsic," said Compuware CEO and President Bob Paul. "It is our
responsibility as corporate citizens, educators and parents, to extend our
resources and ensure that today's students emerge with the skill set to
realize the opportunities in store for them."

Team Brainy Bunch conceived of a mobile app named "Live Better in Detroit"
that aims to support a clean and beautiful city by providing information on
topics such as recycling; available empty space for re-use; and lawn and
garden care. The design also features an advice module to support moral and
ethical decision making. The objective of the app is to help the
neighborhood-based transformation of the city and its continued renaissance.
The app concept from Team BrainyBunch beat out worthy entries from their
classmates for the honors with team App Kids coming in second and MGA
Inventors earning third place. Four other teams participated in preliminary
rounds of the competition, but did not proceed to the finals.

Compuware's Mobile Solutions Group will be bringing the students' concept to
life through the development of a clickable prototype of the mobile app that
will be unveiled in November. Learn more about the program, and see the
prototype upon its completion, at

In celebration of their efforts, members of Team Brainy Bunch will join the
Compuware Elves Champ, Chip, Bloomer and Violet as they cruise America's
Thanksgiving Parade atop Compuware's Performance Workshop float. Also joining
the students in this celebration will be 20 esteemed Elves from Compuware's
professional staff.

Compuware and Marcus Garvey Academy have a longstanding partnership that was
formalized by Compuware's adoption of the school in 2010 through the DPS BOLD
(Businesses/Organizations Optimizing Learning in Detroit) program. Prior to
that date and since, Compuware has been working closely with school
administration and staff to identify areas where Compuware resources and
energy can make a meaningful difference in the educational outcomes of its
student body. A host of supplementary curricula have been developed through
the partnership with the school itself emerging as a learning laboratory.
Programs tested and refined within its walls include:

*Establishing a year-round speaker series to address important student
issues such as bullying; transitioning to high school; bridging the
technology divide; and the importance of college.
*Providing tutors for the DPS Reading Corps program that teaches Pre-K
through third grade students to read.
*Providing a supply of uniforms for students who are unable to purchase
    them on their own.
  *Partnering with:
-- Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide mentors for Garvey students.
-- Madonna University to provide field trips for Garvey students to tour
    the university.
-- Junior Achievement to provide a field trip for Garvey eighth grade
students to visit Finance Park in Spring 2013.
*Development of a test-taking tutor program for the eighth grade students
at the school to help the students prepare – and successfully pass – the
entry examinations for Cass Tech, Detroit Renaissance and King High
    School.
*Hosting a culmination event at Compuware headquarters in May 2012 for all
200 Marcus Garvey students. Guests included WDIV news anchor Rhonda
Walker, Detroit Lions player Don Carey, mascots Ronald McDonald, Roary and
    Paws.

The Mobile App Challenge builds upon a number of these programs by asking
students to work collaboratively in small-team environments to conceptualize a
mobile application to address a challenge the students face in their school or
community. The work-style closely emulates how technology development takes
place within Compuware and at other technology leaders.

"These students truly exceeded our expectations. Their boundless creativity
and enthusiasm were on display for all of us to see and they really wowed us,"
Paul explained. "It was an honor to have provided them with the platform to
conceive of, and showcase, this concept. I have high hopes for where they'll
go from here."
