ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- October 28, 2013

CSG International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSGS), a global provider of interactive
transaction-driven solutions and services, met with clients, partners, and
analysts from 28 countries in Lisbon for its annual EMEA conference. This
year’s event addressed current transformational industry shifts and the
changing role of telecom operators in the digital age.

The telecommunications industry, like most industries, is in a state of
technological and economic flux driven by intense competition and exciting new
technologies. Improved mobile and wireless services have eroded the
traditional revenue streams enjoyed by large carriers and taken a bite out of
margins that shrink precipitously every year.

CSG and its clients addressed the paradox of increasing market opportunity and
decreasing revenue in a landscape rife with tech-savvy, data-hungry,
price-sensitive consumers. The group addressed the need for flexible cost
structures and dynamic new businesses—both of which require investments in the
types of innovation and growth models supported by the digital economy.

“CSG client events offer fascinating insights into the issues operators are
currently facing,” said Peter Dykes, senior analyst with Informa Telecoms and
Media. “In Lisbon last week, the discussions centered around the necessity for
IT transformation and organizational change in order to exploit the
investments being made in next-generation networks. The diversity of clients
at the event suggested that transformation is not an issue which confronts
mobile network operators alone, but is one which pervades all aspects of the
telecommunications industry.”

To break out of old habits and set the stage for success, operators need to
leverage existing assets and adapt to changing consumer requirements that an
ecosystem of trusted partnerships can facilitate.

“Telecommunications operators have good assets in their infrastructure—in
their CRM and billing platforms—but their business models are under threat,”
said George Fraser, vice president and managing director of Europe, the Middle
East, and Africa for CSG. “Today, they require agents of innovation to support
a more scalable, agile, and flexible way of doing business.”
