Trend Micro Announces Educational Technology Grant Continues mission to promote digital literacy and citizenship among youth PR Newswire DALLAS, Oct. 23, 2013 DALLAS, Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global pioneer in security software and solutions, is seeking applicants for its Educational Technology Grant program. As part of the grant, Trend Micro will make a financial contribution and donate professional services, as well as software, to public schools across the U.S. The grant was created to support the safe and responsible use of technology among students and to help schools prepare students for future educational and career opportunities. In celebration of Trend Micro's 25^th anniversary, the Educational Technology Grant supports its mission of making the world safe for exchanging digital information. In addition, Trend Micro's Internet Safety for Kids and Families program, an initiative launched in 2008, helps to encourage a generation of safe, responsible digital citizens. "Our goal is to provide students with the knowledge they need to use technology in ways that help, not harm, themselves or others," said Lynette Owens, global director, Internet Safety for Kids & Families Program, Trend Micro. "We believe that raising a generation of good digital citizens cannot be done with technology alone. Education is critical to our mission." A total of 12 public schools throughout the U.S. will be awarded up to $25,000 in cash and services. Eligible schools include those with students in grades K-12 with a population between 500 and 1000. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 30, 2013.
