STARS Helicopter Airlifts Prominent CEOs Into Wilderness for Annual Fundraiser

STARS Helicopter Airlifts Prominent CEOs Into Wilderness for Annual Fundraiser
Battle of Alberta ensues with contestants from both Edmonton and
Calgary
CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/03/13 -- The Shock Trauma Air
Rescue Society (STARS) will once again be partnering will influential
members of the Alberta business community for the third annual CEO
Rescue in the Rockies for STARS fundraiser on Friday, October 4. The
one-of-a-kind event challenges CEOs from across Alberta to compete in
survival tasks while being stranded in a remote location - all to
raise funds for STARS.
With competitors from both Edmonton and Calgary this year, CEO Rescue
in the Rockies for STARS will add more truculence to the "Battle of
Alberta". This year, business influencers Robert H. Geddes, President
and COO, Ensign Energy Services Inc.; Ken Mullen, President and CEO,
Savanna Energy Services Corp.; Brent Hesje, CEO, Fountain Tire; and
David Smith, President and COO, Keyera Corp., will be airlifted from
the Peace Bridge helipad and dropped off at a remote location in
Kananaskis Country. The CEOs will have only one tool at their
disposal to get them off the mountain - their cell phones.
Throughout the day the competitors will be challenged with "survival
tests" and will compete with each other to be the fastest to raise
$100,000 in donations. Once they reach their goal, they will be
"rescued" from their location by STARS helicopter and returned to
civilization.
"Being the first Edmontonian to participate gives me a unique
fundraising advantage," says event challenger Brent Hesje. "I plan to
use this to my benefit and look forward to giving back and supporting
this valuable emergency service."
Funds raised through CEO Rescue in the Rockies will help STARS
provide time, hope and life-saving transport to critically ill and
injured patients.
"I am continually amazed by the support we receive through this
event," says STARS president and CEO Andrea Robertson. "When I look
into the eyes of our participants, I see the passion for creating a
safer community in which we all live, work and play. Their spirit and
dedication will help save lives, and because of that, we are forever
grateful."
