CAMP HILL, Pa. -- October 1, 2013

To help seniors and their caregivers ready for the annual Medicare Part D
enrollment period which begins Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7, Rite Aid
pharmacies nationwide will once again offer its Medicare Advisor to help them
select the right Medicare Part D plan. A Medicare Part D Prescription Drug
Plan (PDP) is the most common form of the federal program designed to help
people over 65 and those with disabilities afford prescription coverage.

"We know that selecting the right prescription insurance coverage can be
overwhelming, and that’s why Rite Aid is committed to offering a valuable
resource to help our customers make the best decision based on their
prescription needs," said Robert I. Thompson, executive vice president of
pharmacy for Rite Aid. "Whether they are eligible for Medicare Part D coverage
for the first time or reviewing their current elections, Rite Aid encourages
all customers making this important healthcare decision to take advantage of
Rite Aid's free Medicare Advisor comparison tool with the help of their Rite
Aid pharmacist or online at riteaid.com.”

Among the many plans available, this year, Medicare beneficiaries will be able
to choose a new plan from Symphonix Health Insurance, Symphonix Rite Aid Value
Rx (PDP)*. Designed to appeal to the value-conscious, Rite Aid will be the
exclusive preferred pharmacy provider in this new plan, which includes $1
copays for select generic medications. Symphonix Rite Aid Value Rx (PDP) will
also provide a competitive monthly premium and offer lower copays at Rite Aid
pharmacies**. The plan is available everywhere Rite Aid operates except
Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and
West Virginia.

Rite Aid is also a preferred pharmacy provider in Medicare Part D plans
offered by WellPoint*** affiliates and Express Scripts Medicare^TM (PDP), as
well as several region-specific plans.*

In addition to the personalized consultations available in stores, Rite Aid
customers and caregivers can compare plans from the comfort of their own home
using Rite Aid's Medicare Advisor online at www.riteaid.com/medicareadvisor.
Comparisons estimate the three lowest-cost plans based on the enrollee's
current prescriptions filled at Rite Aid locations.

Medicare Advisor is in addition to the benefits of wellness65+, the first
chain drug store loyalty program for those 65 and over. Launched in June, the
free program offers seniors a special savings day on the first Wednesday of
the month plus an expanded consultation with their Rite Aid pharmacist.
Seniors enrolled in the program can also earn credit toward shopping discounts
and wellness+ rewards with every dollar spent on prescription co-pays,
including those supported by government-funded programs up to a maximum of25
points per prescription (prescriptions filled in NY/NJ are not eligible; other
limitations and/or restrictions may apply based on state law or other
applicable requirements).

Rite Aid Corporation is one of the nation's leading drugstore chains with more
than 4,600 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia and fiscal 2013
annual revenues of $25.4 billion. Information about Rite Aid, including
corporate background and press releases, is available through the company's
