A new kind of art gallery with the aim of assisting struggling artists around
the UK and beyond has recently opened in Manchester.

Gallery Boonma Artists Cooperative intends to help create a philanthropic
network to help artists become established and bring to market and sell their
pictorial and sculptural work. The name of the project was inspired by gallery
founder Leslie E. Vigerstaff's visit to an artists' commune in South East Asia
and his subsequent discovery of the artist Boonlert Boonma. Boonma's sublime
original charcoal, chalk and pastel portraits are on permanent display in the
Although primarily self-funded, the gallery intends to generate additional
funding via sales of very high resolution Limited Edition Prints of 60
original Boonma works of art to gallery patrons and backers.
Vigerstaff said: "We believe Boonma's work to be sublime. Art can be deeply
moving, create a fascination that stirs emotion, shapes, forms, structures
personality, exposes the raw edges of the psyche and consumes energy.
