Gallery Boonma Artists Cooperative: An Exercise in Philanthropy Targeting Artistic Communities around the UK PR Newswire STOCKPORT, England, September 30, 2013 STOCKPORT, England, September 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A new kind of art gallery with the aim of assisting struggling artists around the UK and beyond has recently opened in Manchester. (Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130930/642914 ) Gallery Boonma Artists Cooperative intends to help create a philanthropic network to help artists become established and bring to market and sell their pictorial and sculptural work. The name of the project was inspired by gallery founder Leslie E. Vigerstaff's visit to an artists' commune in South East Asia and his subsequent discovery of the artist Boonlert Boonma. Boonma's sublime original charcoal, chalk and pastel portraits are on permanent display in the gallery. Although primarily self-funded, the gallery intends to generate additional funding via sales of very high resolution Limited Edition Prints of 60 original Boonma works of art to gallery patrons and backers. Vigerstaff said: "We believe Boonma's work to be sublime. Art can be deeply moving, create a fascination that stirs emotion, shapes, forms, structures personality, exposes the raw edges of the psyche and consumes energy. "I'm using my passion for the arts and his amazing work to create a 'shop window to the world' for all struggling and impoverished artists. What could be better than that?"
