Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., a grower-owned cooperative, today announced its
latest estimate for the 2013 cranberry crop, with the harvest just underway.
Providing conditions stay as expected, Ocean Spray believes the global
industry crop will range between 11.1 and 11.5 million barrels, coming in
close to the 2012 global industry crop of 11.2 million barrels.

Approximately 80 percent of the cranberries harvested will be consumed in
North America with the remaining 20 percent shipped overseas. The cooperative
is focused on international expansion and aggressively marketing cranberries
abroad. Cranberries are featured in more than 1,000 products in over 50
countries worldwide.

“As a cooperative, our mission is to market the fruit of our grower-owners. To
do that, Ocean Spray is focused on increasing demand for our great-tasting,
good-for-you cranberry products through bold market expansion, development of
new distribution channels and product innovation,” said Randy Papadellis,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Spray. “These efforts benefit
not only Ocean Spray’s grower-owners but the entire cranberry industry.”

The power of the cranberry centers on its well-documented urinary tract health
benefits and emerging heart health properties. Just over 200,000 barrels of
Ocean Spray’s 2013 harvest will be sold as fresh cranberries, available now
through the end of the year, while the remaining fruit will become juice
beverages, dried cranberries, cranberry sauce and other cranberry products.

Ocean Spray grower-owners are located throughout all cranberry growing regions
including Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin, as well
as British Columbia and Eastern Canada. This June, Ocean Spray also celebrated
its first springtime harvest in Chile.

“Harvesting cranberries is the culmination of an entire year’s worth of work,”
said fourth-generation Ocean Spray grower Gary Garretson, CEO of southeastern
Massachusetts based Slocum-Gibbs Cranberry Co. “The crop looks good and we’re
excited to be underway with our harvest and bringing in the fruit that will
become Ocean Spray® products.”

The North American harvest begins in mid-September and will run through
mid-November finishing just in time for Thanksgiving. Of the 400 million
pounds (4 million barrels) of cranberries Americans consume annually, 20
percent – or 80 million pounds – will be consumed Thanksgiving week.

Ocean Spray is aggressively marketing cranberries and finding unique ways to
bring the beauty of the harvest to those who live far away from the iconic
bogs.

In late September, Ocean Spray kicks off the harvest with its annual Bogs
Across America tour, where the cooperative will bring lifelike cranberry bogs,
complete with fresh, floating cranberries to New York; Orlando, Fla.; and, for
the first time, Washington, D.C. Cranberry farmers will be “in the bog” to
educate consumers about the taste, health and heritage of America’s native
berry.

Globally, Ocean Spray is introducing cranberries to new consumers and
expanding into new markets. In Russia and China, the cooperative is holding
sampling events and cooking demonstrations incorporating dried cranberries in
everyday local recipes. Ocean Spray continues its growth in Latin America with
launches in Chile, Columbia and Peru. Ocean Spray growers will also be going
to Europe to educate consumers on this uniquely American fruit.

Online, www.oceanspray.com will feature Ocean Spray’s virtual harvest as well
as fall recipes. Consumers can also learn more about cranberry’s unique health
benefits at www.cranberryhealth.com.
