  Clinical Documentation Improvement

SALT LAKE CITY -- September 12, 2013

3M Health Information Systems has signed an agreement with MedPartners HIM to
offer the company’s credentialed clinical documentation improvement (CDI)
staffing resources with 3M’s complete suite of ICD-10 and CDI consulting
services and software. The integrated outsourcing service will help hospitals
and health systems manage both interim and long-term CDI staffing required for
organizational CDI initiatives and to prepare for ICD-10 implementation in
October 2014.

CDI staffing from MedPartners HIM supports 3M’s extensive program of ICD-10
consulting services and 3M DRG Assurance, the healthcare industry’s leading
CDI consulting program, which has been used by 1,500 U.S. healthcare
organizations to achieve more precise clinical documentation, accurate quality
outcomes data and reimbursement, and to maintain regulatory compliance.

Terri McCubbin Graves, RN, director of Consulting Services for 3M Health
Information Systems, said the outsourcing agreement with MedPartners HIM
extends 3M consulting programs to address the healthcare industry’s shortage
of qualified CDI specialists. “Many healthcare facilities have asked us for
help in obtaining on-demand CDI staff during this critical preparation time
leading up to ICD-10,” McCubbin Graves said. “Working with MedPartners allows
us to offer experienced CDI specialists as part of a comprehensive consulting
program that is customized to our clients’ needs and documentation quality

“We are excited about partnering with 3M, a major force in the healthcare
industry and a leading CDI solutions provider,” said George Klimis, vice
president, CDI and Acute Care Case Management Services for MedPartners HIM.
“Both of our organizations are invested in providing the highest quality
services and best talent available to our clients.”
