NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --As part of its focus on
delivering an effortless customer experience, AT&T* today announced it is
seeking applicants for nearly 200 positions throughout Tennessee including
nearly 100 new jobs. AT&T is hiring full and part-time employees in customer
support, retail and U-verse premise technician positions. The company plans to
begin filling these positions immediately.

The announcement was made earlier today at AT&T's high-tech 5,400 square-foot
retail store in Nashville at 1904 West End Avenue. The new store opened on
Friday, July 26 and offers a unique way for customers to interact with and
shop for smartphones, tablets, connected devices, and home products and
services. The official grand opening is slated for Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013
from 12 until 2 p.m.

"Like never before, Tennessee businesses and consumers are using more
communications services like wireless and broadband for work and to stay
connected with family and friends," said Speaker Harwell. "These jobs are in
one of the fastest growing parts of the Tennessee economy and will help build
critical communications infrastructure and provide customer support. These
jobs will also provide opportunities to local residents as our economy
continues to grow and as demand for wireless and other communications services

In the first half of 2013, AT&T invested more than $175 million in its
wireless and wired networks in Tennessee. The investments included deployment
of new macro cell sites, small cells and Distributed Antenna Systems across
the state as a part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP, a three-year investment
plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. The
company also expanded and enhanced its 4G LTE network, which provides
ultra-fast mobile Internet speeds, and deployed new Wi-Fi hot spots.

The 2013 year-to-date network investment builds on the nearly $1.4 billion
that AT&T has invested in its Tennessee wireless and wired networks from 2010
through 2012.

"As AT&T continues to invest in our network and expand our customer base in
Tennessee, we're committed to providing excellent customer service," said
Joelle Phillips, president of AT&T Tennessee. "We applaud Governor Haslam and
the members of the Tennessee legislature who are working to create a business
friendly environment where industries want to invest and create job
opportunities for Tennesseans."

"The investment AT&T is making in their wireless and wired networks is
essential to spurring Tennessee's economy and creating jobs," said
Representative Gary Odom. "In our wireless world, mobile and broadband
networks create economic opportunities for health care, manufacturing,
education, transportation and public safety, and virtually every other
economic section."

"Nashville has long had a reputation as an innovative and high-tech city,"
said Ralph Schulz, president & CEO, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. "This
announcement today serves to underscore that we are open for business,
investing in Nashville, hiring in Nashville and hiring across the state of
Tennessee with the most modern wireless infrastructure to support our growing
business community."

Full and part-time positions include competitive wages and benefits which may
include tuition reimbursement, paid time off, medical/dental/vision health
care benefits, discounts on AT&T products and services, life insurance,
pre-tax flexible spending accounts and participation in a 401(k) plan with
company matching.

AT&T currently employs more than 5,400 employees in Tennessee, and hired more
than 450 people across the state in the first half of this year.

"Providing an extraordinary wireless experience is our top priority whether
it's on our network or in our stores," said Chris Percy, vice president and
general manager of AT&T Mobility. "The investment in our network and our new
company owned store in West End are proof to our commitment to our customers
and the local economy."
